The Short Squats Low Impact Cardio Exercise

The short squats low impact cardio exercise is a great exercise to really help activate the muscles of the entire body. It hits the thighs, buttocks, back, hamstrings, back, shoulders and arms. It’s a great low impact exercise that you can use to either warm up with or include in a cardio circuit sequence. I usually include short squats as a warm up because it activated my entire body. Although the short squats low impact cardio exercise can work as a great stand-alone belly fat burning exercise.

Below I will show you how to do the short squats low impact cardio exercise.

Position for the short squat low impact cardio exercise

Place your feet at slightly wider than shoulder width apart. Square your shoulders and puff your chest out slightly. Keep your head level and eyes forward.

How to perform the short squat low impact cardio exercise

Raise your arms slightly so your hands are at ear level and squat down about a quarter of the way down. Stop and push up with your legs and reach up with your arms. Once your arms are fully extended, squat back down and move your arms downwards. Repeat the movement until the desired amount of repetitions have been performed.

Important notes on the short squat low impact cardio exercise

·         As the name implies, this is a short squat so you don’t have to squat all the way down to parallel (only if you want to).

·         Keep your back straight throughout the entire movement

·         Try not to look down at your feet as this will cause you to lose balance and throw off your form

·         Keep your arms out in front of you and try not to round your back

Breathing

Breathe in as you squat down and breathe out as you squat back up and reach.
