Low Impact Toe Touch Cardio Exercise

The low impact cardio cross foot toe touch exercise is a great low impact cardio movement that will allow you to build up your cardio endurance while keeping the impact to your knees and ankles to a minimum. The exercise is pretty simple to perform with no complicated body movement and best of all no special equipment is required. I enjoy using the cross foot toe touch in combination with other low impact movements such as the hook and knee to boost the challenge of the exercise.

Position for the cross foot toe touch exercise

Standing upright with your back straight, keep your head level and look straight ahead. Keep your feet at roughly shoulder width apart.

How to perform the cross foot toe touch exercise

Raise your left foot upwards in cross body fashion and using your right hand, touch your toes. Once you touch your toes, bring your left foot back to the starting position and lift your right foot upwards and reaching with your left hand, touch your right foot. Repeat the movement for the prescribed amount of repetitions.

Important notes for the cross foot toe touch exercise

·         Keep your back straight and head level – try not to look down at your feet as this will cause you to break form and throw you off balance

·         The higher you lift your foot the more challenging it is. Lift your foot to where you feel comfortable reaching – don’t force the movement

·         It may take you a bit to get the hand of it but once you get into the rhythm of the movement it will get easier.
