How This Simple Belly Fat Burning Weight Loss Tip Will Allow You To Lose Weight!

I always say this to my clients when they want to lose belly fat and drop body weight “Convince your mind and your body will follow”. Your mind plays a pivotal role in your weight loss efforts and if you can convince your mind about something, your body will always follow suit. Our senses relay messages to our brain which signals our body to act. You see something you like, your body will act. You smell something you like, your body will act. That’s the way we are built.

Why do you think fast food companies such as Dominos or McDonald’s pour so much money into visual advertising? They know that visual cues are strong motivators, especially when we’re hungry. I was watching T.V last night and a pizza commercial for Dominos came on. I tell you, it was a powerful commercial filled with close ups of cheesy and meaty pizza’s. The visual cues in that commercial were almost enough to overtake my mental urge to keep in shape. It was a close call!

It’s these visual cues that create an environment of needs and wants and using these visual cues we can also use it to create a false sense of those same needs and wants. Let me ask you a question? Which size of plate do you use when you eat your main meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner)? I’m going to assume you use the big plates. Why do we use the big plates? We’ve been conditioned to use the big plates because it signifies satisfaction. The big plates signify a healthy appetite which further signifies good health. We’ve grown up using the big plates…right?

Here’s the problem with using the big plates. They allow us to pile on WAY too much food and if your diet is starch and protein heavy, chances are you are going to be consuming way too many calories and carbohydrates to lose weight and belly fat. If you factor in salt and gravy you are most definitely consuming too much sodium and fat to lose weight. That’s the way we were brought up – I was conditioned to use the “big boy” plate and pile on a ton of potatoes and meat. Growing up, I consumed very little leafy or fibrous vegetables mainly because it way just way too expensive for my parents to afford. We had to stick to root vegetables (potatoes, carrots, onions) and fatty meats. Hey, I’m not complaining, that’s just the way it was.

Now, getting back to my visual cues topic…

Our body will react to a variety of stimuli with visual cues being one of the more powerful motivators. Once our mind is convinced of something, our bodies (all things being equal) will follow. With that in mind, we are going to pull a “jedi mind trick” on our own mind and convince our body to follow suit. Here’s the trick….

Ok, here is it….

Yep, use the small plate. Put your big plates away and make the small plates your main dishes to use at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Here’s why using your small plates are so effective. They convince your mind that there is a full plate of food in front of you.

You have to remember, the small plates are roughly half the size of the big plates and that means half the calories, half the fat, half the starches and sometimes (if you use it) half the gravy. You don’t have to substitute any of your foods, worry about counting calories or part with your favorite foods...

…Just use the small plate.

However...Remember This

Have one serving and DO NOT pack your plate with food. Here’s why this is so effective. First it convinces your mind that there is a full plate of food in front of you. In turn, your body will follow suit and go along with your minds decision which is…”There is a full plate of food in front of me”. Secondly, once you have a few bites from the small plate your body will start to satiate which will take the hunger away. Thirdly and most importantly, you will have much smaller portions than using the “big boy” plates. Smaller and more controlled servings mean less calories, less starches, less fat and less sodium.

You Don’t Have To Count Calories!

We all hate counting calories and that’s the beauty of this weight loss tip and trick. Add your vegetables, meat and potatoes (if that’s what you’re having) and don’t over fill the plate. Do that and you will keep your portions under control and calories in check.

You Don’t Have To Part With Your Favorite Foods!

Even if you love potatoes, meat and carrots you can still use this method and achieve some weight loss results! Keep eating what you want to but remember to NOT over fill your plate and keep your serving to ONE! Do that and you’ll be off to a great start for your belly fat burning and weight loss journey.

The Beauty of This Weight Loss & Belly Fat Burning Method

Remember when I said this is a “Jedi mind trick” well it works like magic because you only need to do this a few times before your mind gets conditioned to use the small plate. Once you do it a few times your mind will start to form a “habit” of using the small plate. Trust me, after a few times of using the small plate your mind will instinctively reach for the small plate. Your mind will…

I used to use the big plates but now, I only use small plates. I haven’t used the big plates in years and quite honestly, I don’t even miss them.

You will lose weight and start to burn belly fat if…

·         You use the small plate for breakfast, lunch and dinner

·         Stick to one serving only

·         Don’t over fill your plate

Here’s a video I made using this method.

Remember folks, the simpler the method the better it is and this is a super simple method that anyone can use to lose weight. Give it a try for the next week and see what happens!
